The days are getting longer, the afternoons are lighter, and there’s no better excuse to get out and about. From a brand-new venue in Wellington to live country, ABBA anthems, interactive darts and school holiday fun, there’s plenty happening across Star Group venues this month.
Opening 8 October | 4 Taranaki Street, Wellington Central
Wellington, get your game face on. Sports & Rec is opening in the former Shed 22 on the waterfront, with big screens, beer towers, game-day grub and plenty of reasons to stick around beyond the final whistle. Get ready to bring the family, round up the workmates, or make a night of it with your friends. After all, Sports & Rec is where sport gets social.
Saturday, 26 September - Sunday, 11 October | Participating Star Group venues
Kids saying they're bored these school holidays? Bring them to your local. We're running hands-on activities across our venues while you grab a coffee, catch up with mates, or just sit down for five minutes. Book in for pizza-making, family trivia night, crafts, free colouring competitions - there’s something for every age.
Sunday, 25 October at 1pm | Goldie’s Bar & Yard
If you love discovering new music, this one’s for you. Spend your Sunday afternoon at Goldie’s with four up-and-coming local country artists - Blake Stainton, Jenni Smith, Van Brookes and Rosie Teese. Doors open at 1pm - tickets $35 each, unless you spot an artist promo code anywhere (hint, keep an eye on their socials).
Saturday, 10 October at 8pm | The Postman’s Leg
Get your disco pants on and dance the night away with the iconic tribute band, ABBA Heaven. Bringing the magic of ABBA to life with powerhouse vocals, replica costumes and all the hits you know and love, it’s a night of pure Dancing Queen energy.
Tickets are $25, or grab five for $100 via Eventfinda or behind the bar (excl. fees).
Select Wednesdays at 7pm | Sports & Rec Sylvia Park
Think you know pub quiz? Pubble isn't one. There's no trivia here. Just clues to crack, patterns to spot, and riddles that'll have your whole table in a heated debate. Best of all, it’s free entry. So grab your sharpest mates, maybe a rotisserie chicken for the table, and see who comes out on top.
Officially open | Empire Tavern
Darts just got a serious upgrade at Empire Tavern. Try interactive darts with camera-tracked scoring projected right onto the board, plus a game library for everyone from first-timers to seasoned sharks. It’s $15 per person for a one-hour slot, including your board and game selection.
Friday and Saturday nights are walk-in only, so swing by and we'll get you set up. Any other time, book ahead to lock in your slot.
Friday, 16 October from 7pm - 10pm | Foxglove
Ready to step into the Roaring Twenties? The Fox’s Glove is bringing prohibition-era glamour, red-hot jazz and a few surprises to Foxglove for one unforgettable night. Expect live jazz, surprise performances and plenty of 1920s mischief, all across The Ballroom and Foxtail.
Your $120 ticket includes one bespoke cocktail or mocktail (Limoncello Spritz, anyone?), plus canapés to enjoy as the evening unfolds. Get ready for a night that’s greater than Gatsby.
Ready to make this month one to remember? Book a table, grab your crew, and we'll see you at a Star Group venue near you.
